Best Limericks - Irish limerick poems and poetry. 1.1.1

This program is a collection of the greatest ballads we could find. All are rated PG or cleaner!

These ballads are based on a five-line rule written with one couplet and one triplet. The pattern is A-A-B-B-A. Some people claim that these ballads were invented by soldiers returning from France to their hometown of Limerik in the 1700s. For example:

~ There once was a man of Fort Orange
~ Who longed to lim’rick using orange.
~ He quit in despair,
~ Hung himself in mid-air,
~ Where he swings to and fro like a door inge.

~ A flea and fly in a flue,
~ Were imprisoned so what could they do?
~ Said the flea let us fly.
~ Said the fly let us flee.
~ So they flew through a flaw in the flue.
