I tried many of the other calorie counter programs and I found several flaws within those programs that claim to help you watch your weight. So, when I created this application, I included features users asked for in other applications and avoided the problems the other applications have. Its the superior search, the ability to add and remove items from the database, and the fact that this stand alone app does not require Internet access, that helps give users of Diet Tracker the best calorie counting experience possible.
For example, the search function in the other programs is broken. If you searched for McDonalds in the other applications I tried, no results would display, because the data was stored as McDonalds with an apostrophe. The search feature in my program is powerful enough to find the results you are looking for.
The database with this program contains over 7,000 items from a USDA study of the items most commonly eaten by Americans, as with many other programs. But, the other programs do not allow you to delete unneeded information form the database. Diet Tracker allows you to add and delete items to and from the database.
Some other programs require a web account, or Internet access. This program does not require access to the Internet or registration on a website.
This application allows you to add your own foods, where other programs will not. This program will track diet score for you, as they are calculated by plans most commonly used by diet watchers.
Everyone needs to track their daily weight, and this program allows you to easily track and refer back to your weight.
Diet Tracker is a powerful application that will help you to track what you eat. It includes nutritional information for over seven thousand common foods, and a powerful search that helps you wade through that information. It allows you to add or remove foods from the database. You can mark food items as favorites, for fast reference. You can then track your meals, by adding the amount of each food you are eating at a time. The tracker keeps a history of your meals, that is easily accessed, so you will know what you ate and when you ate it.

Drawbacks
- The weights, measurements, and food choice is not internationalized. It is intended for an American audience.
Tips
- If the first time you run the software, nothing shows up in the search results, reset the database. The database has to be copied once to a writable location to work. Once its copied, it will work without problems.
