Doppler Speed 1.0

Doppler Speed measures the speed of a sound source, which passes the observer during the recording period, by utilizing the Doppler effect.

Doppler Speed has been designed for measuring the speed of propeller model aircrafts.

At start time and at stop time the frequencies are taken and entered into the Doppler formula.

This kind of speed measurement is based on the uniformity of the sound emitted. Object distance, wind, air temperature or noise can influence the accuracy of measurement.

Methods involved: fast fourier transformation, time frequency representation, cross-correlation, stochastic methods.

Attention: the object should pass the observer in a short distance or a longer recording period should be considered so that the beginning and the end of the recording deliver representative frequencies.
