FKC 2- Warm ups and cool downs

How many times have you turned up to training - have all your session planned for all aspects except warm ups and cool downs. In my experience many coaches fall well short when it comes to informing their players how vital it is to warm up and cool down correctly.

In this application not only will you get great new drills in full colour with easy to follow instructions, but you will also understand the three key phases to effective warm ups.

Warming up

It is vital that players learn to adopt training habits when taking part in football practices. The first habit a coach should install into his players is the need to warm up correctly before they start strenuous physical activity. He should explain the reasons why warming up is so important, I believe they come in the following three reasons

1 To raise muscle temperature
2 To maximise performance
3 To prepare mentally for the training or match ahead

These drills are also good to use as a parent and can help your child prepare for any type of sport.

If football is your child’s main sport then why not give them more support by understanding the basics.
The warm up drills inside this application covers all three phases of the warm up process.

I suggest you look at grouping the drills together to include light running drills, then look at the high tempo combination drills that show patterns of play from a game situation. Likewise, a cool down period at the end of a match or soccer training session is important because Cool downs Main objective is to bring the body down to a resting state and incorporate the points below. Very light jogging is great for a cool down routine, combined with stretching. A five to seven minute session will be enough for the player to cool down correctly.
