Gauge Mathematical Tool 1.0

Gauge is a performance benchmarking tool for the iPhone and iPod touch, with several other features such as Mandelbrot fractal exploration, Pi calculation to millions of digits, as well as a Prime number calculator. The main benchmark makes use of these and many other core tests to assign a score to your device based on its performance relative to other iPhones or iPod touches.

The score is indexed around my iPod touch first generation, running 2.2.1, and it receives a 100 on the test. All other scores are relative to this. If another device scores 145, for example, it is 145% the speed of my device, and if another device scores 80, it is 80% the speed of my device.

Gauge less than a minute to give an accurate, consistent, and scalable score, in the process testing the CPU (main processor), GPU (graphics processor), RAM (memory) and chipset, and SSD (solid state hard drive). This score can be used to determine how much faster one device is in average use cases, since all of these operations are used heavily in day to day operation (launching apps, rendering web pages, playing games, etc.)
