Pocket Data - SQLite Database System 1.2

Pocket Data is an RDBMS, a relational database management system, powered by SQLite.

Included are nine application templates:
1. bookshelf
2. budget
3. diary
4. gadgets
5. gifts
6. groceries
7. movies collection
8. passwords
9. recipes

Thus, youll have nine applications immediately, which you can use, build upon, or look at as examples.

A database in the system comprises of tables, SQL queries, reports, and metadata.

The system supports the following types of fields:
1. integer
2. decimal
3. text
4. date
5. boolean
6. selection (data from a reference table)
7. name (data from your address book)

The latter four are managed by Pocket Data rather than SQLite. Note that text is stored in UTF-8 rather than Unicode because SQLite does not natively offer sorting capabilities for Unicode.

Tables are presented in a way suited to the iPhone and iPod Touch: data can be searched; and each row and column can be traversed easily.

Data entry is also made as convenient as possible. Whenever possible, youll select from lists. When you have to type something in, youll use the standard iphone keyboard that youre already familiar with.

Unique to this system is a wizard-like query builder so that queries can be created without much typing. For completeness, there is a text editor as well.

Currently, there are six types of reports:
1. form
2. text
3. checklist
4. line chart
5. pie chart
6. master detail

Reports enable you to visualize and use the data in different ways.

All of the data in the system can be backed up and restored. This can be done on the device or to a remote server via FTP. Whats more, individual tables can be exported and imported as tab delimited files via FTP.

The system is user friendly. Help documentation is built into the app. And one on one customer support is available through the built-in support module.

Use Pocket Data to create your own database applications, however many. The system is limited only by the storage capacity of the device.

Pocket Data offers a lot of functionality for a few bucks, a tiny fraction of the price of systems such as Microsoft Access.

As long as sales continue, over time, more templates, reports and even field types may be added to the system. The upgrades will be FREE of charge.
