Shri Durga Prarthana

Goddess Durga is the mother of this universe and is said to be the ultimate Protector of humanity and universe. Her mention is found in early Hindu scriptures like Yajur Veda and the Puranas.

According to the scriptures, Goddess Durga was created from the rage of all the Gods to fight and defeat the terror of demons on earth. She is worshiped as the ultimate Warrior and Savior of mankind. She is worshipped as the one who brings an end to all the sufferings. Since Durga was formed out of all the Gods she is the perfect embodiment of courage, power, intelligence, wealth, kindness and all other divine qualities. Goddess Durga is also worshipped as a perfect and ideal Mother; thus she is the mother of universe.
