SpotCrime NYC is the iPhone application for SpotCrime.com. SpotCrime will display recent crime activity around your current location. Crime incidents are displayed with icons representing different types of crimes including shooting, robbery, assault, theft, burglary, arson and vandalism.

Users can identify high crime areas in the areas they are traveling, and get specific details of the crime events by selecting individual incidents.

Are you traveling to New York City and want to get a sense of the crime activity? SpotCrime NYC can help you get a sense of the neighborhood.

By using the iPhones GPS to find your location, SpotCrime NYC will provide up-to-date details on crime incidents in your area. We do not provide statistics. We do provide information on actual incidents that happened in your area. With this app, you get your own personalized crime report.

Source of Data:

Through our proprietary sourcing model, SpotCrime pulls crime incident data from multiple sources including state and local police departments as well as validated news sources to provide a comprehensive record of local crime information.

Theft - The act in which property belonging to another is taken without that persons consent.
Burglary - The criminal offense of breaking and entering a building illegally for the purpose of committing a crime in that building.
Robbery - Using force or intimidation to take property away from another person in the presence of that person.
Assault - A physical attempt or threat to use violence with the intent to do harm to another.
Arson - The crime of intentionally setting fire to a building or property of another or the burning of ones own property to collect insurance.
Shooting - The act of firing a weapon in order to hit, wound, or kill someone or something.
Vandalism - The intentional destruction of or damage to the property of another.
Arrest - The seizure of an alleged or suspected offender to answer for a crime.
