Word Speed is a great game for testing your word unscrambling ability. The objective is simple: unscramble words as fast as you can in the time allotted and achieve as many points as possible. Get a word right and score points. Get a word wrong and lose points. The number of points are based on the length of the word guessed or missed.

Each game begins with five minutes on the clock. But, in addition to scoring points for a correct word, every time you get a word right, time is added to the time remaining. However, get a four, five or six letter word wrong and time is subtracted (there is no time penalty for words of length 7, 8 or 9).

There are two game modes: Progressive and Constant. The objective in both games is to unscramble words as quickly as possible.

In Constant mode, the length of the scrambled words remains constant throughout the duration of the game.

In Progressive mode, scrambled words start with four letter words. Each time a word is correctly unscrambled, the number of letters in the next scrambled word is increased by one (up to the max of nine letter words). If a word is guessed incorrectly, then the next scrambled word is one character less in length.

Both game modes allow you to pass on up to three words without penalty.

Word Speed is not only a great way to test yourself on words you already know, but to learn new words you may not be familiar with, so please be aware that some of the words are quite tricky. We believe this adds to the fun and excitement.
