Word Whiz: Scrabble and Crossword Solver 1.1

Word Whiz helps you solve SCRABBLE word puzzles as well as Crossword puzzles. Thats two word solvers for the price of one! Note: This is not a game in itself, but a tool to be used for playing other word games. Word Whiz only supports the English language.

Scrabble Whiz will get you thinking in new ways about your Scrabble game. It is a great way to find the highest scoring word possible in a Scrabble game. Or if your friends wont allow you to play with it, you can use it after your turn to figure out what words you could have played. Its fun to pass your iPhone around and let others check out the words they missed. Its also a great tool when you have a player who isnt confident in their Scrabble ability. Give them exclusive access to the power of Word Whiz and theyll instantly become the most feared player in the game!

When playing Scrabble go to the Scrabble Whiz tab and type in the letters that you hold in your hand, along with the letters you can build off of on the board. Word Whiz will present you with a list of all anagrams and permutations of these letters which form actual words. You can sort this list by alphabetical order, length of the word, position of the letters in the word, or by the Scrabble points you would earn if you played the word.

To enter blank tiles hit the space bar when entering text in the In Hand textfield; a * will represent the blank tile.

Word Whiz has two Scrabble dictionaries in the English language which you can choose from: one based on the TWL06 dictionary used for USA, Canada, and Thailand tournament play, and another based upon the SOWPODS word list used for tournament play in the rest of the world. This App cannot be used in official tournament play, but it can be used to verify disputed words in informal games with friends.

When playing Crossword puzzles, go to the Crossword Whiz tab, set the word length, and fill in the letters that you already know. Hit the Find Words button and an alphabetical list of words of the correct length and with the correct pattern of letters will be generated. The Crossword Whiz dictionary contains pronouns such as names of people, places, and things, among other non-captilized words.
